Having problems with your slime ripping, breaking, or not thickening? I’m here to help!
My daughter and I went through many experiments with slime when the first batch was super hard and would break. We ended up perfecting our slime recipe. Want to read more about our slime experimenting?
Here is our preferred slime recipe!
Perfect Slime Recipe
You’ll need 2 containers. In the first container combine:
- 1 (5 ounce/147ml) bottle of clear school glue
- 15 ounces hot water (fill up glue bottle three times)
- (Optional) Glitter, we added afterward.
- (Optional) Food coloring
Mix glue and water, set aside while preparing the 2nd container.
2nd container
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1/2 tsp Borax
(Often found in laundry aisle at Walmart)
Mix the water and borax fairly well, it is okay if you have some borax particles on the bottom. Pour the borax solution(2nd container) into the glue mixture (1st container) and start stirring. You will instantly feel the slime thickening. You can also use your hands to mix. Within a couple minutes, you’ll have the finished product.
We absolutely love this recipe, we’ve made it a dozen times. But if you have any trouble, below is some troubleshooting.
Troubleshooting-
Is your slime not thickening up? If you’re sure you measured correctly and mixed well, I’d try lowering the water to 10-13 ounces (2 to 2.5 bottles) of water in the first container next time you make it.
Is your slime is ripping and breaking! If it is a brand new batch and you’re sure you mixed and measured correctly, I’d add another bottle of water next time. I find adding water after slime is made doesn’t work well at all. If it is an older batch of slime, I’d just make a new batch.
